Description

Perennials or bulbs, with light foliage and pretty bunches of flowers. These species are popular for their beauty, with their flowers in flared tubes, and they self-sow, sometimes in abundance, and always in the right place.

A plant that spreads slowly with the help of its short runners. As foliage and flowering vary in nature, varieties have been named. For this variety, the flowers are large, bright blue with white markings and the foliage is a rather light, bright green. In warmer climates, the plant tends to go dormant in summer, flowering again in autumn.

Planting and care

Humus-bearing, well-drained soil, remaining moist. Sensitive to heat waves. Suitable for temperate, maritime or mountain climates. It blooms in spring, disappears in summer, and reappears in autumn. It retains its leaves during winter. In harsh winters, it may disappear and regrow in spring; in this case, a mulch of dead leaves is beneficial.
