The spade is an essential garden tool, designed for lifting, turning, and loosening and crumbing the soil deeply, in light soils and on small surfaces. Fertiliser (well-decomposed compost, organic fertiliser, horse manure) can be incorporated into the soil at the same time it is turned over. With its sharp edges, it is also used for digging, cutting roots, or uprooting certain vegetable plants (leeks, potatoes, carrots, turnips). This model consists of an ash wood handle known for its hardness and lightness, with a metal ferrule and a hand-forged blade made of electrolysed steel that is resistant to shocks, torsion, and corrosion. The handle is compostable, and the metal head is recyclable.

Gschwind is a Swiss company specialised in the manufacturing of high-quality hand tools that combine robustness and ergonomics while meeting the most specific needs. This tool is made in Germany.

Directions for use An essential garden tool, designed for lifting, turning, and digging small surfaces, in light or sandy soils. Fertiliser (well decomposed compost, organic fertiliser, horse manure) can be incorporated into the soil at the same time as it is turned over. The sharp spade is also used to make planting holes, create neat edges, cut roots, and remove certain vegetable plants (leeks, potatoes, carrots, turnips). It is suitable for lighter soils. It is preferable to use a fork-spade in heavy or rocky soils. We recommend cleaning it with a hard brush after each use and storing it in a dry place. Once a year, you can sand the handle with fine sandpaper and oil it with a mixture of linseed oil and turpentine for easier application. Dilute half and half, and for faster drying of the handle, use boiled linseed oil.
