Biocontrole Organic farming
This white clay is a 100% natural physical barrier, effective for naturally controlling the olive fruit fly and its larvae, as well as the cherry fruit fly, which lay their eggs inside the fruit. This preventive treatment, approved for use in organic agriculture, comes in a powder form to be diluted for spraying onto plants. A 1kg box can treat 5 trees.

Biotop Argi®Jardin White Clay is a 100% natural physical barrier for controlling cherry fruit fly and olive fruit fly. It comes as a white powder to be diluted and sprayed onto the fruit trees you wish to protect. This preventive treatment avoids the gardener having to resort to using pesticides. It targets the adult, a very small fly that lays its eggs in the fruit well before ripening. The clay barrier acts as a protective film and limits the pests' appetite and egg-laying. No chemical residue on the fruit. Suitable for organic agriculture, net weight 1 kg.

Targeted pests:

  • Rhagoletis cerasi: cherry fruit fly
  • Bactocera (dacus) oleae: olive fruit fly.

These flies share the common trait of laying their eggs before or during fruit ripening. Infested with small maggots that feed on their flesh and pulp, the fruits rot quickly and become unfit for consumption. The application gives the fruits and leaves a dull colour, which will also hinder visual recognition for the fly. Rain or a simple rinse of the fruit will be enough to remove the protective layer before consumption.

Biotop Argi®Jardin White Clay is a product based on white clay, composed of 99% kaolin and 1% various minerals. It is sold in 1 kg bags whose contents are enough to treat 5 medium-sized trees.

White Clay can be used in conjunction with the Dacotrap® trap and its pheromone to detect the arrival of the first flies and subsequently apply the first sprays.

Period of use:

Argi®Jardin should be applied to olive trees as soon as flies appear (October - January) and to cherry trees from the first colouring of the fruit (May-July).

Before any use, read the label and product information.
