The 3 little shoots that I planted have grown and bloomed, but nothing more. I thought I would have a beautiful pot of flowers, but that was not the case. What a shame.

Description

The giant 'Maori Maid' trailing Fuchsia is characterized by its spectacular double hanging flowers measuring 7cm (2.8in).

In red and violet colours, it blooms continuously from June to October. Usually grown as an annual, it is a perennial that can be cultivated indoors.

Discovered in Saint-Domingue in the 17th century and acclimatized in Europe, it was named Fuchsia (not Fuschia) in honour of a German botanist named Fuchs. Originally from South America, botanical Fuchsias have gradually been multiplied. There are now believed to be tens of thousands of hybrids!

Green plants measuring 4 to 8cm (1.6 - 3.in) in cases of 5 small clumps measuring 2.8cm (0.8in) in diameter and 4cm (1.6in) in height. Our plants are at least eight weeks old and strong enough to be planted in the ground.

Note: Attention, our young plants in mini-clumps are professional products reserved for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, transplant and store them under shelter (veranda, greenhouse, frame...) at a temperature above 14C° for a few weeks before being planted outdoors once the risk of frost is definitively eliminated.

Planting and care

Plant your fuchsias in a rich, moist, and well-drained substrate, in the sun or partial shade. Fuchsias need plenty of light to flower well, but they are afraid of full summer sun. Water regularly, as they fear drought, but not excessively. When grown in a pot, be careful not to leave water in the saucer, as it would rot the roots and cause the leaves to fall. Feed with a liquid fertilizer for fuchsias every 15 days during the growing season. Regularly remove faded flowers and dry leaves. Prune in autumn after flowering. Fuchsias can also be grown indoors where they are perennial and evergreen.
