Description

Veronica Mixed Colours, also called hybrid stillwell, is a perennial plant with elegant floral spikes. Available here in a harmonious mix of species and of white, blue and pink colours. A must-have to bring vertical accents to flowerbeds.

This speedwell belongs to the family Scrophulariaceae and is a herbaceous perennial displaying a bushy growth habit. It grows 30 to 35 cm high and 35 cm wide. Its flowers are borne on candle-shaped spikes. Its deciduous foliage is composed of large, lanceolate, toothed leaves.

Vigorous, heavy-blooming and hardy down to -15°, speedwells like rich, moist, free-draining soils. You will enjoy its charming spikes from June to the end of August.

In the garden, speedwells will easily find its place in the heart of a flowerbed where its graceful verticality will bring airiness to the whole setting. Combined with coneflower, beebalms and Alliums, it will produce a superb, highly contrasted scenery.

Planting and care

Sow from April to July, in a special seed starting compost, taking care to cover the seeds lightly. Seal within a polyethylene bag that you will keep in the dark until the first seedlings begin to appear. Keep the compost moist but not wet. Germination takes about 30 days at 20-25 °C.

When the seedlings are large enough to be handled, prick out the young plants into pots.

Gradually acclimatize the young plants to cooler conditions until they are developed enough to be planted outside.
