Description

This Extra-Short Elves Flower Meadow Mix brings together selected perennial and annual flowers for their low height and robustness. They form a very low, well-covering bed, requiring very little maintenance, which will bloom from the first summer, then from April to September from the second year. It is sown in well-prepared soil, in a sunny location. A carpet of flowers that will delight the gardener while preserving biodiversity!

The Extra-Short Elves mix is composed of 26 different plant species. The annuals flower between 6 and 8 weeks after sowing, while the perennials take one or two years before producing their first flowers. The latter settle for several years. Some naturalise themselves through spontaneous sowing in the garden, in ordinary, lightened soil. This is particularly the case for annuals that produce a lot of seeds, which allows them to perpetuate themselves more or less over the years. The size of the plants does not exceed 20 cm (7.9 in) in height.

Partial composition: Chrysanthemum paludossum, Dianthus, Nemophila discoidalis, Silene pendula.

Flower meadows are very trendy. Very easy to grow, this mix will bloom throughout the entire summer season and promote biodiversity while requiring very little maintenance. Ideal for bringing colour and life to a slightly wild and sunny area, this Extra-Short Elves mix offers flowers that are often nectar-rich or honey-rich, providing a significant source of food for pollinating insects. Invite nature into your garden: sow our flower mixes along a path, in a slightly neglected area of the garden, on the embankment that borders a deep path, or in the back of the garden at the border with the countryside.

Planting and care

Sowing:

Sow directly in place, from September to October or from March to early June, once the soil has warmed up, in a well-dug and prepared soil that has been cleared of weeds and raked. Sow finely on the surface of the soil and lightly rake to cover the seeds. Alternatively, sow at a depth of 1.5 mm (0.1 in) in furrows spaced 30 cm (11.8 in) apart. Germination normally takes 14 to 30 days.

Cultivation:

When the young plants appear, water well and remove weeds. Then water once or twice a week for 6 weeks, keeping the soil slightly moist. In autumn, at the end of flowering and after collecting seeds, they can be sown in place after cleaning the area. Water well to make the seeds adhere to the soil.
