Beautiful tulips, in bloom for a few days for the 2nd year in my garden. I chose them because I already had Fosteriana tulips, white ones, for years, so they are sturdy and multiply regularly! Your description is perfect. And when I read the various reviews above, I understand the diversity of opinions regarding the color: it ranges between bubblegum pink and slightly salmon pink, with a fresh green streak and it shines in the sun - I haven't seen any blue or red yet? We'll see." Analysis of the translated text: - "in bloom" is a more common phrase than "in flowers" - "for a few days" is a more accurate translation than "since a few days" - "2nd year" is a correct translation for "2e année" - "I chose them" is a better translation for "Je l'avais choisie" as it refers to tulips (plural) - "they are sturdy" is a better translation for "solides" as it describes the tulips - "multiply regularly" is a more accurate translation for "se multiplient régulièrement" as it refers to the tulips reproducing - "Your description is perfect" is a more accurate translation for "Votre description est parfaite" as it refers to the previous description mentioned - "the diversity of opinions" is a more accurate translation for "la diversité des avis" as it refers to different opinions - "it ranges between" is a better translation for "elle évolue entre" as it describes the range of colors - "slightly salmon pink" is a more accurate translation for "rose légèrement saumoné" as it describes the shade of pink - "fresh green streak" is a more accurate translation for "trait vert frais" as it describes a streak of green - "I haven't seen any blue or red yet" is a more accurate translation for "je n'ai pas encore vu de bleu ou de rouge" as it refers to the colors not yet seen - "We'll see" is a more accurate translation for "On verra" as it expresses a sense of anticipation.

Description

Tulipa 'Albert Heijn' is an elegant and romantic variety. The single flowers are bright candy pink with a touch of lilac, charming in flower beds and borders. Its large flowers appear to be composed of silky little scarves, assembled in tapered cups. With short and sturdy stems, it is resistant to bad weather and undemanding and it will faithfully flower in the garden from mid-March for several years. It is also a superb cut flower for bouquets.

Tulipa fosteriana is a very hardy botanical species originally from Turkestan. Tulips derived from T. fosteriana belong to division 13, they are reliable and among the first to bloom, sometimes as early as mid-March, and there is no need to replace them regularly. This bulb produces strong but flexible stems 35 to 40 cm (14 to 16in) high when flowering, bearing a large cup-shaped corolla, which opens wide in the sun to reveal its delightful pink hues. A lavender reflection softens the bright pink, sometimes touched with a small green tongue at the base of the petals, on the outside of the cup.

Fosteriana tulips are suitable for all uses, in flower beds, borders, and the tallest varieties can even be cut for bouquets. Their sparkling yet elegant colours pair well with blue hyacinths, grape hyacinths or other white tulips. Remember to consider the height and flowering period when designing your flower beds, as these can vary significantly from one cultivar to another. It is a good idea to plant a few more bulbs for cutting beautiful cut flowers that last a long time in a vase. In pots and containers, they bring some spring colours to balconies and terraces.

Planting and care

Plant your tulips in well-drained soil as soon as possible after receiving them. Loosen the soil deeply and plant at a depth of 15 cm (6in) (Bulbs should be covered with twice their height in soil). Space the bulbs a few centimetres apart, making sure they do not touch each other, in a sunny location for better flowering. After flowering, cut the flower stems but let the leaves dry completely before cutting them. After flowering, their faded foliage becomes unsightly, so we recommend planting Heucheras, Tiarellas or Brunneras in the foreground of your flower beds. Their foliage will enhance the colours of your tulips and elegantly conceal their yellowed leaves.
