Description

The 'Chansonnette' Triumph Tulip is a variety from the famous Triumph group that features flowers of a violet purple colour with a wide white border, creating a very bicolour effect. Its flowering period extends over the months of April and May in spring, the season of vibrant colours. The leaves, a bright green colour, measure between 10 and 35 cm (4 and 14in) in length and are deciduous. It has an upright habit, with sturdy stems that can withstand adverse weather conditions. Stunning as a border plant, it is easy to cultivate.

The 'Chansonnette' tulip belongs to the Lily family. Of horticultural origin, it is currently classified in the 'Triumph' group, which is characterised by narrow cup-shaped flowers and robust stems that provide them with extra resistance. The "Triumph" tulips are the result of a cross-breeding between "early single" tulips and "Darwin" tulips. The 'Chansonnette' Triumph Tulip is a variety from the Czech Republic. This plant reaches a height of 45 cm (18in). Its flowering occurs between late April and May, towards the end of the tulip season. The foliage emerges from the ground in spring. It consists of large lanceolate leaves, 10 to 35 cm (4 to 14in) long, with a glaucous green colour that turns yellow and then dries up a few weeks after flowering, when the bulb enters a resting phase. Its flowers are adorned with a violet purple colour and wide white borders, hanging from sturdy stems. They measure between 5 and 8 cm (2 and 3in) in diameter.

Triumph tulips are the queens of vibrant colours. They bring a touch of charm to flower beds, pots, and containers. Don't forget to consider the height and flowering period when designing your flower beds, as these parameters can vary significantly from one cultivar to another. It is wise to plant a few more bulbs for cutting, as they make beautiful cut flowers that last a long time in a vase. The 'Chansonnette' tulip finds its place in large flower beds, in combination with other tulips in white, violet, pink, mauve, or purple colours, in perfect harmony with its own colour, but also in the company of blue flowers. Forget-me-nots, wood hyacinths, and grape hyacinths enhance its warm hues. Tulips are also beautiful flowers to cut for bouquets.
