Description

The Perennial Geranium Sirak is the result of hybridisation between G. gracile x G. ibericum. It is a hardy perennial, very robust and very floriferous, which received the RHS Award of Garden Merit in 2004.

Its foliage is dark green, dissected and abundant, making it an excellent groundcover. Moreover, its growth is very rapid, at maturity this perennial can reach 50 cm (20in) in height.

The flowers of the hybrid Geranium 'Sirak' are abundant during the months of June/July and its flowers have 5 candy pink petals veined with violet.

Very easy to grow, this geranium is undemanding.  It grows in the sun but prefers partial shade.

Planting and care

To plant your Geranium Sirak, prepare the soil to a depth of 20 cubic cm, crumbling the soil well.  Add a fertiliser to the base of the hole such as bonemeal.  Position your plant, removed from its pot, by covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil. Fill in the hole and water generously to eliminate any air pockets. In dry weather, it will be necessary to water regularly for a few weeks to help the plant to establish.
