Description

The Geranium renardii is remarkable for its semi-evergreen gray-blue foliage. Its leaves are fuzzy like those of sage, which is why it is called the cranesbill with crepe-like leaves.

Like all perennial geraniums, it is tolerant and accepts both sunny and semi-shady conditions. It thrives in poor and dry soils, which enhance the silvery character of its foliage.

Its flowering is not very abundant but very delicate, with white to lavender flowers veined with violet.

You can plant it prominently at the edge of a flowerbed to enjoy its decorative foliage for more than nine months of the year. It pairs well with a violet perennial geranium like the rozanne or as a foreground for roses.

Planting and care

Work your soil to a depth of 20 cubic cm, crumbling the soil well and placing a bottom amendment such as dried blood or dehydrated horn in the planting hole. Position your plant, freed from its pot, by covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil, refill the hole and water generously to eliminate air pockets. In dry weather, it is necessary to water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate root growth.
