This geranium deserves 6 stars for its beauty and vigour. It spreads without restraint on the midrib, upwards, with its long stems and lovely, finely cut and dense foliage. Full of magenta flowers. Two months of triumph and flowers reappear in autumn. A sure value! I will buy more. Other varieties have disappointed me, even Rozanne and Dragon Heart, but not Dilys. I will buy more.

Description

The interest of the perennial Geranium Dilys lies in the changing colour of its flowers. Initially fuchsia pink streaked with purple, they evolve into raspberry and finally currant red throughout the summer. Geranium Dilys offers abundant flowering from July to October.

Another advantage is its very finely cut fresh green foliage.

Like other perennial geraniums, it is tolerant of full sun or partial shade, but this variety prefers a moist soil.

Planting and care

To install, work your soil to a depth of 20 cubic cm by crumbling the soil and adding a base amendment such as dried blood or horn at the bottom of the planting hole. Position the young plant, removed from its pot, by covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil, fill in and water generously to eliminate any air pockets. If planted during dry weather, regular watering is necessary for a few weeks to facilitate root establishment.
