Finally, I just replanted, a young plant, has survived the winter contrary to my prediction at the end of August 2022.

Description

Echinacea pallida is a very beautiful wild species with pale pink flowers, topped with a centre of orange-brown stamens, which has a stunning effect in a wild garden.

A close relative of the Rudbeckia, Echinacea, also known as the coneflower, is native to the United States. It is a perennial and very hardy, growing in meadows and therefore tolerating sun, competition from other plants, and relatively dry conditions.

In early summer, Echinacea pallida produces flowers which are delicate pale pink, topped with a centre of orange-brown stamens. Carried on sturdy stems 80cm (32in) tall, the flowers bloom continuously from July to early September. The abundant foliage, dark green in colour, is deciduous.

Easy to grow and highly cold-resistant, Echinacea pallida thrives in sunny, well-draining, calcareous, and rocky soils.

Planting and care

Echinacea pallida appreciates a sunny position. It tolerates light shade. Preferably plant it in a deep and well-drained soil, but it will accept any type of soil. It is a hardy plant that withstands drought, heat, and moisture. It even adapts when it is close to the coast or on a slope. Space the plants 40 cm (16in) apart when planting. The flower is greedy, so regularly add a good fertiliser so that it can flourish. Cut back the stems when the flowers have faded to promote the next flowering. The plant does not like to be disturbed and takes quite a while to establish.
