More information

This campanula forms a tall clump crowned in summer with large cut flower arrangements of starry bell-shaped flowers in a fairly deep mauve. A very hardy perennial, it grows in sun or partial shade in fertile, moist soil, even clayey or chalky. Full of charm in the middle of a large border, it also produces good cut flowers.

Planting and care

Plant your Campanula lactiflora Pritchard's Variety in spring or autumn, in full sun, in rich, moist, deeply worked soil. Don't be misled by the size of the plant in its pot: give it the space you would give a small shrub. You can prune the stems at the end of flowering to encourage new flowers to appear. We recommend cutting off faded flowers to prevent self-seeding. In a windy position, staking will be necessary. You can divide the clumps in autumn and spring. For planting in a pot, apply an organic fertiliser at least once a year.
