Bucket arrived all feeble and dry, probably won't recover. Delivered height of 3/4 cm (1/2in) doesn't correspond at all to the visual (bucket of 9cm (4in)). To be seen...

Description

Agastache 'Blue Boa' is a new variety derived from 'Blue Fortune' with thicker spikes of purple flowers in buds and lilac at maturity.

Similar to Cedronella, this bushy perennial reaches a height of 60cm (24in), and develops deciduous foliage that is highly fragrant, single, dentate, lanceolate, and velvety on the underside, with a greenish-grey colour. Its scent is similar to fennel and its leaves can be used for infusion or dried to flavour dishes. Very floriferous and melliferous, dense spikes of tubular purple flowers in buds and intense lilac at maturity emerge in July, bringing joy to pollinating insects.

Easy to cultivate, the 'Blue Boa' Agastache grows in rich, moist, and well-drained soil in a sunny location. Be cautious of powdery mildew during dry periods. It can be used in borders and beds, paired with Heleniums or daisies. Its dried spikes are perfect for making dried bouquets.

Tips: mulch during harsh winters.

Planting and care

The 'Blue Boa' Agastache thrives in the sun or partial shade, sheltered from cold winds. It is a plant that withstands drought well. It is suitable for any type of well-drained, rather moist and rich soil. Easy to grow, protect it from frost with winter mulch in cold regions during the first few years. If necessary, water the plant, especially during flowering. In spring, cut the faded inflorescences and clean the clump. It is not particularly prone to diseases or pests that can hinder its flowering, except for powdery mildew, which can affect the leaves in case of drought.
