2nd trial (the previous one received in September logically died, see my review on 15.09.22 upon reception...). Thanks to the individuals (for order preparation and shipping), the Vine-plant (Petrorhagia saxifraga) received this time appears healthier (beginning of vegetation). Planted near a rockery, I am now patiently waiting for it to take root... (or not?)

Description

Petrorhagia saxifraga, better known as Pink Saxifrage or Tunic Flower, is a herbaceous perennial with a creeping habit. A long flowering period from June to September produces small pink panicle flowers with dark veins.

The foliage of Petrorhagia saxifraga is semi-evergreen, forming a dense tuft. It has fine green leaves that are needle-like (linear, rigid, and pointed). It can be used to create a beautiful ground cover that decorates gardens.

At maturity, Petrorhagia saxifraga can reach a height of 20 cm (8 in). Originating from dry and sandy rocky areas in southern and central Europe, it can be found along roadsides and in dry bushes and meadows. In your garden, it will be well suited for borders or rockeries.

Planting and care

Petrorhagia saxifraga should ideally be placed in direct sunlight. You can also place it in partial shade, but it may not fully bloom. Plant it in a rather dry and well-drained soil. This plant thrives in dry and rocky terrains and therefore tolerates drought. To plant your young plant, work the soil into a 20 cm (8 in) cube, crumble the soil well and add a bottom amendment such as dried blood or crushed horn. Position your plant, removed from its bucket, and cover the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1 in) of soil. Fill the hole and water generously to eliminate air pockets.
