The 'Promesse de Fleurs' organic fertiliser for geraniums and flowering plants maintains soil fertility and provides all the essential elements for the floribundus of these plants. The presence of a root growth stimulant promotes establishment and rooting, while the richness in organic matter of this fertiliser allows for a gradual and sustained release of nutrients: window boxes and balcony planters are abundantly flowered and adorned with vibrant colours. This fertiliser is environmentally friendly and is suitable for use in organic farming.
Geraniums and other balcony plants grown in pots benefit from regular fertiliser application, especially as they are cultivated in a small volume of substrate whose nutrient reserves are quickly depleted by the plant. They require a fertiliser low in nitrogen but rich in potash and magnesia, two nutrients that promote flower production and enhance their colours. This 'Promesse de Fleurs' organic fertiliser NF U 42-001, in the form of spreadable granules, is derived from the decomposition of living matter. Its formulation is NPK 3-2-5 with MgO, meaning it contains:
- 3% total nitrogen (N), of which 2.5% is in the form of organic nitrogen from composted plant and animal matter (oilseed cakes, fruit pulps, composted poultry manure, feather meal, hydrolysed bone and meat meal), for slow and gradual release, and 0.5% mineral nitrogen, directly assimilable by plants. This element contributes to the development of the non-reproductive aerial parts of the plant, particularly the leaves and stems.
- 2% total phosphorus (P), which strengthens plant resistance and contributes to root development.
- 5% potassium (K). This element plays an essential role in root formation, flowering, and fruit development. It is vital for life and directly participates in the formation and growth of cells. Activating over 80 enzymatic systems, it promotes sap circulation and enables the transfer of sugars and proteins to the roots and organs such as seeds, fruits, and tubercles. A well-rooted plant will better withstand drought and environmental stresses.
- 1% total magnesium oxide (MgO) or magnesia: this element promotes the assimilation of nitrogen, phosphorus, and sulphur. It helps to intensify flower colour and the flavour of fruits and vegetables.
The role of the root growth stimulant is fundamental: it promotes the root dynamism of plants during establishment and creates a favourable environment capable of inducing the formation of numerous, highly ramified roots. The development of plants is thus boosted, both in terms of vegetation and flowering or fruiting. A plant with a developed root system will better withstand water shortage and absorb nutrients present in the soil much more effectively.
Use: for all flowering plants cultivated in pots or containers on the terrace or balcony, from March to October. Before planting: spread and then mix into the soil during cultivation. During cultivation: spread and then incorporate into the soil with light raking and water.
- For plantings: spread 120g/m² before preparation and then 60g/m² during the growing season: total 180g/m² per year.
- For plants already in place: apply 3 times a year at 60g/m².
- Plants in pots: apply 3 times a year at 10g per 10 litres of potting compost.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).

The flowering period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions located in USDA zone 8 (France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands, etc.)
It will vary according to where you live:
- In zones 9 to 10 (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), flowering will occur about 2 to 4 weeks earlier.
- In zones 6 to 7 (Germany, Poland, Slovenia, and lower mountainous regions), flowering will be delayed by 2 to 3 weeks.
- In zone 5 (Central Europe, Scandinavia), blooming will be delayed by 3 to 5 weeks.
In temperate climates, pruning of spring-flowering shrubs (forsythia, spireas, etc.) should be done just after flowering.
Pruning of summer-flowering shrubs (Indian Lilac, Perovskia, etc.) can be done in winter or spring.
In cold regions as well as with frost-sensitive plants, avoid pruning too early when severe frosts may still occur.
The planting period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions located in USDA zone 8 (France, United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands).
It will vary according to where you live:
- In Mediterranean zones (Marseille, Madrid, Milan, etc.), autumn and winter are the best planting periods.
- In continental zones (Strasbourg, Munich, Vienna, etc.), delay planting by 2 to 3 weeks in spring and bring it forward by 2 to 4 weeks in autumn.
- In mountainous regions (the Alps, Pyrenees, Carpathians, etc.), it is best to plant in late spring (May-June) or late summer (August-September).
The harvesting period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions in USDA zone 8 (France, England, Ireland, the Netherlands).
In colder areas (Scandinavia, Poland, Austria...) fruit and vegetable harvests are likely to be delayed by 3-4 weeks.
In warmer areas (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), harvesting will probably take place earlier, depending on weather conditions.
The sowing periods indicated on our website apply to countries and regions within USDA Zone 8 (France, UK, Ireland, Netherlands).
In colder areas (Scandinavia, Poland, Austria...), delay any outdoor sowing by 3-4 weeks, or sow under glass.
In warmer climes (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), bring outdoor sowing forward by a few weeks.
