Description

The Lonicera periclymenum 'Serotina' is a climbing plant, very hardy, easy to cultivate, appreciated for its numerous creamy white flowers striped with red and highly fragrant.

The Lonicera periclymenum 'Serotina' has long deciduous leaves, 4 to 6cm (2in) long, opposite, ovate, lanceolate, medium green. From July to September, numerous tubular flowers, 3cm (1in) long, creamy white with dark red stripes, diffuse a powerful and pleasant fragrance. They have two large coloured lips and visible stamens. In autumn, red berries follow.

This honeysuckle tolerates any rich, moist, well-drained soil in sunny or semi-shady locations. Although not necessary, a light pruning at the end of winter is possible to balance its habit.

With its height of 7m (23ft), the Lonicera periclymenum 'Serotina' is ideal as a wall cover to dress up fences, trellises, poles, pergolas, or trees. In a container on a terrace, you will enjoy its fragrance even more! Honeysuckles provide shelter and food for many birds, small mammals, and insects (butterflies and caterpillars).
