The Alstroemeria, or Peruvian Lily, is a deciduous perennial that thrives in full sun, in well-drained, cool soil. With summer and autumn flowering, it has an exotic character and South American origins, which give it a certain sensitivity to cold. Pink-flowered Alstroemerias come in pastel shades, soft pink, coral, or mauve, as well as bright pink, fuchsia, or violet. Its numerous cultivars vary in height, ranging from 30 cm to 80 cm when in bloom. Depending on their hardiness, grow them in pots on the balcony or terrace, or in the ground in the garden.

Discover the pink-flowered Alstroemeria and add a touch of exotic delicacy to your garden.

Alstroemeria 'River Valley'

Let’s start with a variety of Inca Lily featuring velvety fuchsia pink flowers and variegated foliage. The Alstroemeria ‘River Valley’ is selected for its hardiness and weather resistance. Compact, it maintains its tidy appearance throughout the season. It reaches 35 cm in all directions and blooms from June to October, even into November. It tolerates winter frosts down to -7 °C, classified in USDA zone 8b. Its very open flowers, gathered in terminal inflorescences, consist of three central petals in fuchsia pink with a yellow throat, streaked with purple-brown. Three larger petals surround them in the same bright pink. The foliage, arranged on the upper part of the stems, is glossy dark green, marginate with cream.

Plant it in a pot with other Alstroemerias or at the edge of a border in a mild climate with a Ceratostigma willmottianum ‘Forest Blue’ or Perennial Flax. Add some mauve Asters.

This Peruvian lily produces deep, satin Tyrian pink flowers, maculate with cream at the throat, featuring lovely pink and brown-striped stamens. It blooms continuously from June to October-November.
