The Monstera is one of the most common indoor plants found in our homes. Often appreciated for its graphic foliage and vigorous growth, the Monstera requires a regular repotting to thrive. Indoors, this tropical plant soon sees its roots occupying all the space in the pot, which can hamper its development. Repotting the Monstera provides a fresh volume of potting mix, renews the exhausted compost and improves drainage. Discover our tips for repotting a Monstera easily.

Le root system then becomes fully active, which promotes a rapid recovery.
You can add some perlite, pine bark or coconut fibre to improve the structure. This free-draining substrate is perfect for the Monstera, which dislikes excess water.

3- If the roots form a dense mat, gently loosen them by hand. Remove any roots that are damaged or rotten.

5- Pour a little potting mix over the top. Then place the plant in the centre of its new pot. Fill the empty spaces with potting mix, without compacting too much.

6- Water moderately to moisten the potting mix.
Quels soins après le rempotage ?
- After repotting, allow the top layer of the potting mix to dry out before watering again. Avoid overwatering in the first few weeks as the roots adjust.
- If possible, maintain a humid atmosphere by misting the foliage with rainwater (or soft water) during this period.
- Place the plant in a bright location, sheltered from direct sun (near a north- or east-facing window) for a few days, giving the plant time to adjust to these changes. You can then move it back to its original position.
- To support growth after repotting, you can resume feeding about a month later, when new leaves develop. The Monstera appreciates a liquid fertiliser for houseplants, rich in nitrogen, to be diluted in the watering water every two to three weeks during the growing season.
