Bergenia cordifolia ‘Dragonfly Sakura’: reminiscent of Japanese cherry blossoms
‘Dragonfly Sakura’ is a recent pink variety of bergenia. It produces clusters of beautiful double or semi-double flowers with numerous petals, reminiscent of Japanese cherry blossoms. The flowering occurs in early spring, between March and April. This bergenia then displays a range of pinks from the lightest to the brightest, from soft pink to cherry pink, particularly vibrant.
In terms of foliage, it showcases its leathery and glossy leaves, initially green, which take on purplish hues in winter, even turning blackish-purple if temperatures drop significantly.
Of small size, this charming compact perennial measures about 20 to 25 cm in height and 30 cm in spread, offering a creeping habit. Grow this cordate-leaved bergenia to dress a bank, a flowerbed, or a shaded or semi-shaded rockery. In a flowering pot, it will also be wonderful for enhancing a terrace or balcony that is not too exposed.

The hybrid bergenia ‘Baby Doll’: a soft pink delight
The hybrid bergenia ‘Baby Doll’ offers a very soft and delicate colour. Its flowers reveal a pastel pink tinged with white, very refined. They appear atop short floral stems in spring, between April and May.
The evergreen heart-shaped foliage forms thick clumps. The small leaves are a slightly bluish green, and their veins can even take on red hues due to the winter cold.
A compact variety, ‘Baby Doll’ will reach about 25 cm in height and 40 cm in width. Its creeping silhouette will look wonderful in rockeries. It is also an ideal variety for creating beautiful flowering pots, in window boxes or bowls. This perennial can, for example, be accompanied by hardy geraniums to enhance its delicate colour.

Bergenia cordifolia ‘Pink Dragonfly’: flowers in spring and summer
The bergenia ‘Pink Dragonfly’ is notable for flowering twice a year. Like other bergenias, it first reveals its bell-shaped flowers in spring, between March and April. However, it often blooms again during the summer, renewing the colourful display. The flowers showcase a beautiful bright pink tinged with paler pink, which will easily brighten up shaded or semi-shaded areas of the garden.
The foliage also has decorative qualities: its narrow, glossy leaves take on plum or red hues in winter, making it an attractive plant all year round.
This variety has a compact habit, reaching no more than 40 cm in height and 35 cm in spread. Strong, floriferous, and easy to care for, install this bergenia effortlessly in a border or a lovely pot to enjoy all its benefits. You can also use it in cut flowers to create beautiful spring bouquets.

Bergenia ‘Wintermärchen’: a pink hue leaning towards red
The bergenia rose ‘Wintermärchen’ is a highly floriferous variety, featuring a bright dark pink flowering, almost red. The clusters of flowers bloom between April and May.
But it is also its finer foliage compared to other bergenias that adds to its charm. The leaves, a glossy dark green, have carmine hues on the underside. In winter, under the effect of cold, they take on a vibrant red colour.
Its height of 40 cm and a spread of 50 cm will be ideal for creating a true dense carpet of vegetation, for example at the base of a deciduous tree in a woodland setting.

Bergenia cordifolia ‘Eden's Magic Giant’: a more impressive variety
‘Eden’s Magic Giant’ stands out for its size. Larger and more imposing than other varieties of pink bergenias, it reaches approximately 75 cm in all directions during flowering and will form large, colourful groundcovers.
Flowering occurs in spring, between April and May. At the top of its long, dark red, shiny flower spikes, lovely flowers appear in clusters, combining several shades of pink. This bergenia indeed mixes pale pink, deep pink, and bright pink.
The evergreen foliage consists of large, leathery, glossy leaves with a crinkled appearance. They may resemble the impressive leaves of rhubarb. Initially green, they will turn purplish with metallic highlights in autumn, even becoming red in winter.
Ideal for preventing the development of adventive plants, this bergenia requires little care and thrives in both shade and light sun.
For its garden qualities, this variety has received an “Award of Garden Merit,” awarded in England by the British Royal Horticultural Society.

Bergenia cordifolia ‘Eden's Dark Margin’: particularly colourful flowers and foliage
The ‘Eden’s Dark Margin’ cultivar is a bergenia that offers a lovely harmony of colours between its flowers and foliage. Between April and May, it produces beautiful clusters of bright magenta flowers, tinged with red. They appear atop dark red stems.
The evergreen, leathery, and glossy leaves present a dark green with a purple edge during spring and summer. Then, in autumn, they will gradually evolve to take on metallic purple hues, turning to a frosty brown under the influence of winter’s cold.
This groundcover reaches 40 cm in height and 60 cm in width after a few years of cultivation. A highly decorative variety that will add a splash of colour all year round, even in challenging areas of the garden or along a pathway.
