Our selection of the most beautiful specimens
Contents
In spring, tulips brighten gardens with their colourful flowerings. Among the great diversity of existing varieties, fringed tulips, or dentate, stand out for the finely sculpted edges of their petals, creating a stunning impression of crystallised frost on the top of the flower. Also known as ‘Crispa’, these beautiful decorative tulips can be single or double, and come in a rich palette of colours, ranging from pure white to dark purple-black, including pink, orange, mauve, and red.

The double dentate Tulip 'Snow Crystal'
With its beautiful pure white dress and its crown of delicately fringed petals, the stunning Fringed double Tulip ‘Snow Crystal’ resembles a giant snowflake or a large white carnation. Only the small green flames on the outside remind us that this is indeed a remarkable fringed tulip. It is also fully double, round, and blooms late in May, at the end of the tulip season. It is supported by a short stem measuring 35 to 40 cm tall, yet is sturdy against the elements. Both delicate and original, it will enhance a planter, pot, border, rockery, or flower bed. It also has good vase life, making it suitable for fresh bouquets. Plant it alongside other colourful tulips to create a harmonious contrast, or with a Bleeding Heart to add a touch of romance.

The Dentate Tulip 'Vincent Van Gogh'
Very elegant, the Fringed Tulip ‘Vincent Van Gogh’ offers, between April and May, a large dark, single flower in shades of violet and purple, almost black depending on the light. The petals are finely sculpted at the edges and enhanced by a satin texture, giving them a lace-like appearance. Its tall stem, measuring 40-45 cm, is sturdy, allowing it to hold well in a vase and withstand the elements without flinching. It will make a statement in planters, pots, beds, and borders. The dark dress of the Fringed Tulip ‘Vincent Van Gogh’ will highlight the neighbouring blooms of other tulips, particularly the white flowers of the ‘White Liberstar’ variety, or the pink flowers of the Double Late Tulip ‘Angelique’.
