Description
Introduced in 2014, the Jubilé Papa Meilland® 'Meiceazar' rose celebrates the legacy of the legendary Francis Meilland by enhancing its qualities through sumptuous flowering and an unforgettable fragrance. Like a grand cru of the rose garden, it embodies the excellence and expertise of the Meilland house, offering roses in deep vermilion red, a symbol of passion and elegance. This rose belongs to the hybrid tea group known for its large, sophisticated flowers and continuous flowering. It is also part of the PERFUMELLA® collection dedicated to the most fragrant varieties for its intense fragrance blending hints of old rose, fruity accents and spicy hints of geranium and carnation. Its powerful fragrance permeates the garden and evokes the most prestigious rose extracts. With a vigorous bushy habit, it reaches 80 to 120 cm in height and about 50 cm in spread. Its dense, dark green, and satin-like foliage contrasts beautifully with its large double flowers measuring 12 cm in diameter comprising 45 velvety petals which open into generous cups. Flowering begins in spring and renews itself in successive waves until the frosts, ensuring an uninterrupted floral display. This rose received the Fragrance Prize and a Silver Medal at the prestigious international rose competition in Roeulx, Belgium, in 2014. Its spectacular and fragrant flowers are ideal for cutting with excellent vase life.
The long, well-structured stems of the Jubilé Papa Meilland rose make it perfect for cultivation in flowerbeds, borders, or flowering hedges. Planted as a standalone feature on a lawn or integrated at the centre of a structured flowerbed, it will pair ideally with plants in softer tones that will highlight the depth of its colour. Alongside it, an 'Iceberg' rose will add a touch of light with its clusters of white flowers, creating an elegant and timeless contrast. To enrich the floral palette, a 'Terracotta' Achillea will emphasise the warm character of the combination with its orange hues and delicate foliage. In the background, a Perovskia 'Blue Spire' will add a soft and airy vertical dimension that will balance the density of the foliage. Its velvety-petalled flowers will also integrate perfectly into cut flower arrangements, offering an elegant and refined presence both in the garden and indoors.

Planting and care
To plant your Jubilé Papa Meilland rose, prepare the soil by working it to a depth of 25 cm, breaking up any clumps and adding a base fertiliser such as dried blood or dehydrated horn at the bottom of the planting hole. Place the plant, removed from its pot, ensuring the top of the root ball is covered with 3 cm of soil. Backfill the hole and water thoroughly to eliminate any air pockets. In dry weather, water regularly for a few weeks to encourage root establishment. Also consider feeding your rose with a special rose fertiliser to promote flowering. Choose a sunny spot, or partial shade in very hot regions.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
