Description
The GALAXY® Vega miniature rose 'Meilcy002' is a miniature rose of a new generation, designed for balconies and terraces as well as for small city gardens. Its main asset is a continuous flowering resembling a myriad of small, soft pink and white stars, from spring until the first frosts. With its appearance of a flowering cushion, its healthy growth and its very simple cultivation, it appeals to all lovers of charming and easy-going varieties.
Originating from the vast horticultural group of modern roses, Rosa × hybrida, GALAXY® Vega is the result of a complex cross-breeding like all contemporary miniature roses. It belongs to the Rosaceae family and is classified in the miniature roses class. It can be found under the names miniature rose GALAXY® Vega, dwarf landscape rose Galaxy Vega or under its breeding code 'Meilcy002'. This French creation from 2025 is a product of Meilland, great French specialists of roses. It is part of the GALAXY® series, which features several miniature roses with star names (Naos, Antares, Arcturus) and single, very floriferous flowers, evoking a starry sky.
The bush reaches 35 to 40 cm in height and 30 to 40 cm in width; it has thin but sturdy twigs, covered with small prickles. The foliage is deciduous: it disappears in winter and regrows in spring. The leaves have numerous small oval leaflets, finely dentate, of a medium green. The flowering, particularly generous, lasts from May to October, almost without interruption. The flowers are gathered in numerous clusters on each twig. Individually, they are small single corollas, about 1 cm in diameter, with five petals, reminiscent of wild rose flowers in miniature. The petals, white at the base, are a very soft pink towards the edge, creating a luminous pastel effect. The plant is self-cleaning: the faded petals fall without requiring pruning, which greatly reduces maintenance. Fruiting, in the form of small fruits (hips), is sparse as the flowers continuously renew.
This variety shows excellent natural resistance to common rose diseases. Its hardiness is rated between –14 and –10°C; in practice, it passes without difficulty the winters of lowland regions with a temperate climate, but it should be protected if grown in a container or planted in an exposed position when more intense cold settles in for a prolonged period.
In the garden or in a pot, GALAXY® Vega lends itself to many uses. At the edge of a border or along a path, it creates a very floriferous ribbon in front of slightly taller perennials such as Chinese peonies and small flowering shrubs like Abelia 'Magic Daydream'. In a large container or planter, it pairs well with the coloured foliage of heucheras 'Little Cutie Blondie' or 'Silver Gumdrop', with the annual Verbena 'Estrella Pink Ballet' or with a Surfinia Petunia 'Trailing Light Yellow'.

Planting and care
The Galaxy Vega rose prefers sunny locations. Excess lime can cause chlorosis. It is very resistant to diseases, but if you do notice spotted or affected leaves, remove them without delay. This rose is quite hardy in open ground; however, in a pot it will be more fragile, so protect it from the harshness of winter. To plant your rose, work your soil by breaking it up well and placing an amendment, such as dried blood or dehydrated horn, at the bottom of the planting hole. Water copiously after planting to eliminate air pockets. Water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate rooting.
In a pot, use a mixture of garden soil and compost at a ratio of 1/3 to 2/3. Don't forget the layer of clay pebbles or gravel for drainage. Under these conditions, ensure it is watered throughout the year.
Roses often become spotted or unsightly by late summer, but this is not a problem for their development. These spots are not dangerous for the rose; it is a natural phenomenon. Follow all our advice to remedy this and consult our article: Help: there are spots on my roses!

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
