Description

The Philodendron 'Ring of Fire' is a cultivar with strikingly variegated foliage. Its broad, elongated leaves feature dentate edges resembling flames which enhance their exotic appearance. Each leaf is a dynamic mix of green, buttery yellow, creamy white, and orange. Popular among houseplant enthusiasts, it has a slow growth rate, making each new leaf a delightful surprise. It can be trained to climb up a support or to be left to cascade gracefully down from a stylish pot on a shelf.

Belonging to the Araceae family, the Philodendron 'Ring of Fire' is a horticultural hybrid. Its parent species originate from the humid forests of South America. At maturity, it slowly reaches 1 to 2 metres indoors with a spread of 50 cm. Like most Philodendrons, it is a climbing variety, producing only a few leaves per year—making each new shoot an eagerly anticipated event. The leaves have an elongated shape with dentate edges, each displaying a palette of green, orange, yellow, and cream. Indoor flowering is rare and subtle. In their natural habitat, Philodendrons thrive in humid forests, benefiting from ambient moisture and dappled light filtered through the canopy. These conditions suggest that indoors, they prefer bright, indirect light, high humidity, and temperatures between 18-27°C.

The Philodendron 'Ring of Fire' should be trained to grow up a sphagnum moss pole, support, or trellis. To enhance its aesthetic appeal, pair it with plants sharing similar needs, such as Alocasias or Syngoniums, also members of the Araceae family.
