  • Soil: neutral-acid, cool to moist, clayey or clay-loamy

Veronicastrum 'Fascination' is a stunning perennial that adds vertical interest to any garden. With its tall, upright spikes adorned with dense clusters of small, tubular flowers, it creates a striking display in late summer. The flowers, typically in shades of lavender to pale purple, attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies, making it a great choice for wildlife gardens. This plant thrives in well-drained soil and prefers full sun to partial shade. It is relatively low-maintenance, requiring minimal watering once established. Veronicastrum 'Fascination' is also known for its strong stems, which resist flopping, ensuring a tidy appearance throughout the growing season. Ideal for borders or as a focal point in mixed plantings, it pairs beautifully with other perennials and ornamental grasses.

This plant belongs to the family of Scrophulariaceae. It can reach 1.40 m in height and 70 cm in width. It is a very graphic plant due to its habit and whorled foliage.

The flowers are fine and long spikes of 20 cm, with a fluffy appearance, that gather a large number of tiny pink flowers.

The flowers are nectariferous and attract many insects, including butterflies. The plant takes two to three years to establish well.

Fascination and fasciation!

The variety ‘Fascination’ often produces fasciations (no, there are no typos!). A fasciation is an abnormal growth of a part of the plant, resulting, in this case, in somewhat misshapen flowers that are very striking and decorative.
