The rose 'Pierre de Ronsard', a true marvel

The climbing rose ‘Pierre de Ronsard’ is a must-have! It is stunning with its elegant bicoloured fresh pink roses shaded with carmine in very subtle and successful hues. The flowers are large, measuring 13 cm in diameter. They are round and have 70 petals per flower, very imbricate, giving them an appearance reminiscent of old roses. They bloom from June to October against a backdrop of glossy green foliage. This climbing rose grows quickly and reaches a height of 2 metres at maturity. The stems are sturdy and easily support the large flowers, but to give it a proud look, train it against a wall, well exposed to the sun. While it is vigorous, this rose also requires plenty of warmth and rich, cool soil to produce superb flowers. Its roses also look wonderful in a cut flower arrangement. In a garden, pair it with blue, mauve, or white flowers, such as a clematis, campanula, or lavender. It is a cultivar from the rose breeder Meilland dating back to 1985 and was voted “world’s favourite rose” by the World Federation of Rose Societies in 2006.

The 'Seven Sisters Rose', a delightful range of pinks

The ‘Seven Sisters Rose’ stands out in a garden, with its range of pink hues, from deep pink to soft pink, including a gradient of mauve, lavender, lilac, and ivory. It’s safe to say that the display is worth seeing! It can climb up to a height of 5 metres and spread to 2.5 metres, but you can also choose to prune it to stabilise at 3 metres high. Its arching, flexible stems are almost thornless, making it easy to train against a wall or on a pergola. Its generous and fragrant flowering lasts from June to July. The 7 cm double flowers open in a cup shape and are grouped in bouquets. They emit a fresh and fruity fragrance. Its origin remains a mystery, but it is known to be an ancient and vigorous Chinese variety that was brought to our regions by Charles Greville in 1817.

The 'Dorothy Perkins' rose, a famous old rose.

The ‘Dorothy Perkins’ rose is considered one of the most famous old-fashioned climbing roses. It was created in 1901 by the Americans Jackson and Perkins. It boasts glossy dark green foliage and produces a generous flowering that extends through June and July. It yields small roses of 3 cm, grouped in bouquets of 10 to 20 flowers. They are charming with their pompom shape and their colour palette, ranging from bright pink to almost white. With its bushy habit, this rose can reach up to 5 metres high, on a pergola or arbour.
