The ivy geranium 'Rainbow Amethyst' – Pelargonium peltatum

The ivy-leaved geranium ‘Rainbow Amethyst’ – Pelargonium peltatum offers abundant, long-lasting flowering from spring to the first frosts. Very vigorous, it produces single flowers in a pink shade with a hint of mauve and of good size, on dense, dark-green leaves maculated with brown and with a handsome trailing habit. Flowering runs from April–May to October, with a peak in July and August. The round, palmately lobed foliage gives off a fragrance when crushed. Easy to grow, it looks wonderful in a window box or a hanging basket on a balcony. It reaches a height of 40 cm and a width of 60 cm at maturity. Place this fast-growing annual in full sun.

Low-maintenance, it creates a colourful and cheerful display, quickly forming a groundcover in flower borders or trailing in a pot. Pair it with verbenas, blue lobelias, and morning glories for a bold, colourful display.

Cosmos 'Sonata Rose Clair'

Cosmos ‘Sonata Rose Clair’ is an annual plant with pale pink flowers, light and cottage-style, yet with a certain elegance. It bears, on dark green foliage reminiscent of fennel, flowers resembling daisies of 8 cm in diameter, pale pink with a golden centre. It blooms for a long period, from June to October, and attracts pollinating insects. It integrates into borders and beds, but also into container plantings, and brings a wild and poetic touch to the garden or a balcony. Standing about 50 cm tall, it has a compact habit. It thrives in full sun in soil that is moist to dry. The stems are sturdy and do not require staking.

For a rustic and natural ambience, pair this cosmos with des Stipa tenuifolia, des Bidens and des rudbeckias. This plant also lasts very well in a vase, as a cut flower arrangement.

Bidens 'Stoplight'

Bidens ‘Stoplight’ is an annual plant that stands out for its compact habit and its vibrant cherry-pink flowering. It flowers from May to October in small heads of about 3 cm in diameter, reminiscent of mini dahlias or small cosmos. Growing to 20 cm tall and 20 cm wide, it forms a dense, neat, ramified tuft, composed of small leaves in a deep, vibrant green. It fits into borders, rockeries, at the front of flower beds or in pots to colour the garden or balcony from spring to autumn. The yellow centre of its flowers provides a striking contrast with the pink petals. It grows rapidly and should be planted in full sun in moist soil. Not particularly water-demanding and grows very well in pots or hanging baskets.

You can pair it with red pelargoniums, petunias or blue salvias to create a very colourful display that stands out at a glance and will brighten your terrace or garden for many months.

Cleome spinosa 'Sparkler 2.0 Rose'

Cleome spinosa ‘Sparkler 2.0 Rose’ is an annual plant that adds a touch of originality and lightness to your borders or pots. It offers abundant and long-lasting, from May to October. The flowers in a rich rose colour appear as terminal, architectural and airy spikes. They are composed of four petals that narrow toward the base and stamens and styles that elegantly protrude from the corolla. They bloom on a tuft of palmate leaves, forming a bush about 70 cm tall and 50–60 cm wide. Flowering is followed by distinctive fruits, long thin pods. It is these fruits that gave the cleome its nickname, ‘spider flower’. With rapid growth, this cleome tolerates heat and thrives in full sun in cool, light soil. It does not need staking.

This plant lends a romantic, natural air to a border or flowering display, paired with Perovskias, delphiniums and cosmos.

Cleome

Anthemis 'Daisy Crazy Summit Pink'

Anthemis or Argyranthemum frutescens ‘Daisy Crazy Summit Pink’ is a perennial plant, often grown as an annual and belonging to the Chrysanthemums family. It forms a rounded, dense shrub about 50 cm tall by 40 cm wide, clothed in abundant flowering from May to the frosts of November. The small semi-double daisies of 3 to 4 cm in diameter display varying shades of pink contrasting with their yellow centre. The flowers emerge from blue-green foliage reminiscent of fennel. Fast-growing, it is easy to grow and appreciates sunny exposures and a well-drained soil. What it fears most is damp conditions in winter. This compact plant with a rounded habit offers a neat appearance in a flowering pot display, in a rock garden and can also be used as a groundcover. Hardy to -3 to -4 °C, it can overwinter from year to year if stored in a sheltered place in winter.

Perfect for quickly brightening up a garden, it pairs harmoniously with white roses, silver Artemisias, or Nigellas, creating appealing displays in the garden or on a patio.

The flowers are lightly scented and melliferous. Vigorous and branched, it forms a dense mound about 45 cm tall by 35 cm wide. Easy to grow, it tolerates inclement weather, whether rain or intense heat. It thrives in a sunny position in cool, moist soil.

This Sweet William suits borders, beds and containers. It can be paired with campanulas and columbines to create a romantic colour pairing of white, pink and mauve.

Pétunia 'Supertunia Vista Bubblegum'

The Petunia ‘Supertunia Vista Bubblegum’ stands out with cascades of large flowers in candy-pink, vibrant and finely veined with dark pink, from spring to autumn. The funnel-shaped flowers appear from June to October continuously on downy stems with dense foliage. This variety forms an opulent, trailing dome, 40 cm high, with cascades of flowers up to 90 cm to 1.2 m long. It is suitable for growing in a garden as groundcover, in beds, as well as in pots or hanging baskets on a balcony. Vigorous, it is heat- and weather-tolerant. It requires full sun and regular watering to thrive.

Easy to maintain, it is perfect for creating striking visual displays, when paired with other plants for original displays. Try pairing its pink flowers with a blue Surfinia such as Petunia Surfinia ‘Giant Blue’, and a white alyssum such as alyssum ‘Snow Crytals’ for a dazzling colour display.
