'Gertrude Jekyll' rose, a highly awarded rose bush

Awarded by the Royal National Rose Society, the David Austin rose ‘Gertrude Jekyll’ boasts numerous advantages! This bush, standing at 1.20 metres, can also be staked or grown as a small tree up to 2 metres, is named after the renowned landscape designer Gertrude Jekyll, creator of over 400 gardens worldwide, for good reason. It blooms earlier than other roses, from May to October, producing stunning double flowers in a fresh pink hue that exude an intense fragrance reminiscent of old roses. Before opening into rosettes, the 10 cm diameter flowers start as tightly closed, turbinate buds. Hardy, vigorous, and healthy, it has remarkable resilience. When paired with mauve or even blue flowers, such as clematis, campanula, foxgloves, or peonies, it creates striking displays that inevitably catch the eye.
