The cultivator or garden claw is one of the essential tools when gardening, especially for maintaining the soil between vegetables and flowers grown in open ground. It will weed, loosen and refine the soil after using a spade, fork or pickaxe, creating a favourable environment for sowing, germination and the development of young roots. The cultivator consists of a long natural ash handle, known for its hardness, with a socket where the hand-forged head is fixed in tempered steel that is resistant to shocks, torsion and corrosion. The head is formed by a long curved spike ending in a thinner and sharper leaf shape to easily penetrate all substrates. This tool also manoeuvres around vegetable plants, flower beds or shrubs to remove young weeds that can be easily collected. The handle is compostable, the metal head is recyclable.

The German-made Gschwind artisanal range meets quality criteria for materials and manufacturing methods that correspond to the standards of the best gardening tools on the market.

Directions for use The wrought iron cultivator is used to aerate the soil. After planting the head into the ground, even if it is heavy the blade will easily sink in, a lever movement upwards by simple pressure on the long, apple-shaped handle will loosen the soil and allow air to penetrate. It can also be used for weeding: scrape the soil and then remove the unwanted weeds. It is also a useful ally for cleaning the borders near the crops, without risking harming their roots. To keep this beautiful and essential tool for your garden or vegetable patch for a long time, we advise you to clean it with a hard brush after each use and store it away from moisture. Once a year, you can sand the handle with fine sandpaper and oil it with a mixture of linseed oil and turpentine, which allows for easier application. Dilute half and half, and for faster drying of the handle, use boiled linseed oil.
