Description

The Flame OrigamiĀ® 'Meitincel' rose is as graceful a bush as it is original. Its small, almost double, dentate flowers which transition from cream to peach and powdery pinkĀ offer a continuous display from spring until the first frosts that one cannot easily tire of. They bloom against an elegant, very healthy, glossy dark green foliage. With its broad, flexible, and creeping habit, it adds great charm to flowerbeds, borders, and slopes.

The Flame OrigamiĀ® 'Meitincel' roseĀ is a creation by Meilland dating back to 2021. This cluster-flowering bush rose belongs to the ground cover roses group, known for their spreading habit. It is part of the Meilland 'Classics' collection, featuring robust and elegant varieties.

The Flame OrigamiĀ® rose has a broad and low habit, with arching branches that give it a graceful silhouette. It reaches 60 to 80 cm in height and spreads over a width of 1 m to 1.20 m. Its semi-double flowersĀ measuring 4-5 cm in diameterĀ are grouped in clusters and feature dentate-edged petals. Their colour changes over time and even varies with the seasons: creamy yellow dominates in spring, peach in summer, and powdery pink in autumn. Flowering extends from May-June until October-November. It will cease with the frosts or during very dry summers. The dense, glossy dark green foliage is disease-resistant. The leaves are deciduous, falling in autumn and regrowing the following spring. The stems are thorny, as with most roses.

With its slightly fuzzy habit and unique flowering, this Flame OrigamiĀ® rose has an endearing personalityĀ and can suit many landscaping designs. It will delicately adorns borders, enhances flowerbeds, and brightens slopes. It can be paired with white roses like a Rosanatura AlbaĀ® and a creeping ceanothus. Left to grow freely, it will form a natural-looking bush, perfect for adding a rustic touch to aĀ patio.

Planting and care

To plant your Flame Origami rose, prepare the soil by working it to a depth of 30 cm, breaking up any clumps and adding a base fertiliser such as dried blood or dehydrated horn at the bottom of the planting hole. Place your plant after removing it from its pot, covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm of soil. Backfill and water thoroughly to eliminate any air pockets. During dry weather, water regularly for a few weeks to encourage root establishment. Also consider feeding your rose with a special rose fertiliser to promote flowering.

Roses often develop spots or look unsightly by late summer, but this does not affect their growth. These spots are not harmful to the plant; it's a natural occurrence. Follow all our advice to address this issue and read our article: Help: My Roses Have Spots
