First summer after planting: we only have leaves, let's be patient, the flowers may come next summer.

Description

This hardy perennial plant has fleshy roots and can grow in any fresh and deep soil, including limestone, as long as it has excellent drainage in the winter. If you have heavy soil, you can dig a hole about 30 cm (11.8 in) in all directions and fill it with pure sand before planting the stump without adding any soil. All the species and varieties of this plant have deciduous leaves and are highly resistant to harsh weather conditions (approximately -18°C), which allows them to grow in many regions. If you experience very harsh winters, you can cover the stumps with straw or dead leaves. This plant is perfect for bordering flower beds alongside Crocosmias, Artemisias, and annual rudbeckias and in the foreground of ceanothus, cistus, halimiums, and phlomis.

In addition, this plant offers a beautiful and compact variety with large dark blue flowers. It's ideal for borders or small gardens.
