Our range of Pittosporum tenuifolium. Also known as Kohuhu, this is an elegant and versatile bush, prized for its decorative evergreen foliage. One of the most elegant varieties, 'Irene Patterson', stands out with its green leaves marbled with white, bringing a bright touch to the garden. The cultivar 'Tom Thumb' is loved for its almost black-purple foliage. Compact, it is ideal for small spaces or borders. 'Variegatum' features green leaves edged with creamy white, adding texture to hedges and flower beds. Pittosporum tenuifolium is also an excellent alternative to boxwood. Its dense and colorful foliage varieties offer interesting options for creating structured hedges and topiaries, without the drawbacks of diseases that often affect traditional boxwoods.
Pittosporum tenuifolium prefers sunny to partial shade exposure and adapts to various soil types, although it particularly thrives in well-drained soil. They are also resistant to salty sea spray, making them perfect for coastal gardens. Regular watering is recommended in the first year after planting to encourage good root establishment. After that, they require little maintenance, except for light pruning in spring to maintain a compact habit. Pittosporum tenuifolium is moderately hardy, tolerating temperatures down to -10°C. In regions with harsher winters, it is advisable to plant it in a sheltered spot in the garden or protect it with winter fleece.
