The spring flowering hedge celebrates the beauty of the return of sunny days after the gloom of winter. Beyond its utilitarian role in defining the garden and providing privacy, the hedge that blooms in spring is one of the most joyful and colourful there is: the Forsythia is often found alongside the Japanese Quince and the flowering currant, in a traditional but radiant and invariably successful combination. Like any flowering hedge, it grows more or less freely, with only one annual pruning usually necessary after flowering to control its growth. It can be interesting to mix evergreen and deciduous shrubs to avoid a too bare appearance in winter. Our selection includes varieties ranging from 1 m (3ft) to over 4 m (13ft) in height, to create low, medium, or high hedges.
