Thanks to Shauna for the order preparation and C.D. for the shipment, the young plant received in a bucket looks healthy to me. Planted at the edge of the rock garden, I am now patiently waiting for it to take root... (or not?).

Description

Aethionema armenum 'Warley Rose' forms a small shrub, 20cm (8in) in height, dense with bluish-green foliage, covered in small, very vibrant pink pompoms, for almost 4 months.

Originating from the arid mountains and hills of the Mediterranean region, the Armenian Aethionema, often considered a perennial plant, is a compact shrub, 20 to 30cm (8 to 12in) in height and width. It has evergreen foliage, short and very fine, with a glaucous green appearance. From the month of May, it is covered in pompom flowers, 3cm (1in) in diameter, of a vibrant pink and this lasts for almost 4 months. This variety, obtained in Warley, England, thrives in very sunny, well-drained, neutral or limestone soils.

Aethionema 'Warley Rose' will thrive in rockeries or along a rocky border, in the company of Sedums, Sempervivum, moss phlox, Spanish bluebells, botanical tulips or ornamental dwarf garlic.
