Description

The Anthurium Dorayaki x magnificum is a hybrid variety between a rare and prized cultivar among connoisseurs: 'Dorayaki'; and an uncommon botanical species, renowned for having one of the most beautiful anthurium foliages. The result is a rare plant in cultivation, featuring, at ripeness, large and stunning heart-shaped leaves in dark green (lighter in young leaves) beautifully veined in silvery white, velvety to matte. Its ample leaves possess an exotic elegance that will be appreciated in contemporary or tropical settings. Invite it into your living room if it's bright or into a not-too-cold conservatory. Place it in a spot bathed in indirect light and maintain high ambient humidity. Not the easiest anthurium, but not the hardest either!

The Anthurium Dorayaki x magnificum belongs to the Araceae family. It is the result of cross-breeding between a rare cultivar and the botanical species Anthurium magnificum. Native to the tropical forests of Central and South America, particularly Peru and Colombia, the anthurium grows naturally in humid and shaded environments, often as an epiphyte, on trees or rocks. This origin explains its specific needs: indirect light (but bright indoors), a very well-draining substrate composed of orchid compost or sphagnum moss, and high humidity maintained by regular misting.

The leaves of the Anthurium Dorayaki x magnificum are medium green and ovate to lanceolate in shape when young and small. At ripeness, the very large leaves are round and cordate, in a very dark green, veined at all ages in shiny silvery white, forming delicate patterns on each leaf. The texture is velvety to matte. Its mature size reaches 50 to 70 cm in height and width, or even much more if it lives for several decades.

The Anthurium Dorayaki x magnificum is a stunning collector's plant, to be showcased in a slightly jungle-like interior as well as in a modern or bohemian home. In a bright living room, bedroom, or conservatory, its graphic leaves create a remarkable focal point. Pair it, in a lush and balanced ensemble, with complementary green plants from the Araceae family like your most beautiful Alocasias, Syngoniums, or Philodendrons. These plants share the same light and humidity requirements.
