Beaucarnea, highly original indoor plants, combine style and robustness. With their swollen trunk resembling an 'Elephant's Foot', particularly noticeable in the Beaucarnea recurvata, they somewhat resemble miniature baobabs. Their trunks serve as a water storage system, making them perfect companions for those who want an exotic touch at home with minimal effort.
The Beaucarnea recurvata features long, slender leaves that cascade down like wild hair. Native to Mexico, this plant from the Asparagaceae family can grow up to two meters indoors, making it a centerpiece for your decor. The more compact Beaucarnea stricta has stiff, upright leaves, while the B. gracilis charms with its massive trunk and shorter, narrower leaves.
These 'Bottle Trees' thrive in bright light and well-drained soil. Water them sparingly—their trunk acts as a natural reservoir. A temperature between 18 and 25°C is ideal for their growth, but they can spend the entire warm season outdoors.
