Organic farming
Crushed horn and dried blood are two organic fertilisers rich in nitrogen whose action is complementary. The blood has a 'boost' effect on plant growth, while the horn nourishes them progressively and sustainably. Very simple to use and particularly suitable for perennial crops (trees, bushes, lawns, perennials), the horn/blood mixture can be used for planting, during soil preparation in autumn, when repotting, or simply by spreading. This 100% natural and biodegradable product can be used in organic agriculture. Sold in a 500-gram bag.

The 'Promesse de Fleurs' Horn and Blood Mixture, which is very rich in nitrogen, combines the 'boost' action of dried blood, which quickly makes nitrogen available to plants, with the long-lasting action of crushed horn, which releases it progressively and sustainably. This organic fertiliser of animal origin promotes plant growth while maintaining soil fertility in the long term, making it ideal for the needs of shrubs and perennial plants that remain in place for several years. It is very easy to use and can be applied during planting, soil preparation, repotting, or simply by spreading it for maintenance. 100% natural and biodegradable, it is suitable for organic gardening.

The mixture of crushed horn and dried blood is a mixture of chips and powder: these two components should be thoroughly mixed before use. It is derived from slaughterhouse waste: crushed horns, hooves, or claws, and poultry blood. It is inherently rich in nitrogen, like all organic materials of animal origin, containing 13% nitrogen, but it also releases some phosphate (P), potash (K), and a small amount of magnesium (MgO). The blood decomposes very quickly in the soil under the action of microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, insects, etc.), and rapidly releases elements that can be directly assimilated by plant roots. Crushed horn degrades much more slowly and thus has a more spread-out fertilising effect over time, over a year or even several years: the plant takes up nutrients as it needs them. The mixture of crushed horn and dried blood, when mixed with the planting soil, poses no risk of root burn. However, avoid overdosing to prevent excessive leaf and stem production at the expense of flowering and fruiting. When used alone, it is suitable for soils that are well supplied with phosphorus and potassium. Otherwise, supplement with phosphorus and potassium.

Suitable for all crops, the horn/blood mixture can be used for planting or maintenance from February to October, when the heat and humidity are favourable for plant growth and the action of decomposing microorganisms. One application per year is sufficient.

Recommended maximum application rates:

  • Trees, shrubs, ornamental, fruit trees, or flowers: sowing and planting 60 to 80 gr/m² - Maintenance 40 gr/m² - Autumn feed 60 gr/m²
  • Vegetable garden: sowing and planting 100 gr/m² - Maintenance 50 gr/m²
  • Lawn: sowing and planting 130 gr/m² - Maintenance 60 gr/m² - Autumn feed 60 gr/m²

During soil preparation, in spring or autumn: spread before digging. One handful = 30 grams.

It can be used for all crops but is particularly suitable for perennial plants: trees, bushes, perennials, and lawns. Avoid overdosing to prevent excessive leaf and stem production at the expense of flowering and fruiting. When used alone, it is suitable for soils rich in phosphorus and potassium. Otherwise, supplement with phosphorus and potassium.
