Description

This 'Bacopas for planters and hanging baskets' Collection brings together three excellent varieties ideal for balcony and terrace decoration. These small, robust, and highly floriferous annual plants are decorative for several weeks between May and October, offering countless white or mauve flowers on slightly trailing stems. These plants thrive in full sun or partial shade, require a light and humus-bearing soil, and appreciate regular fertilization.

This collection is sold in sets of 5 plug plants, which include:

x 2 Bacopa 'Dynamic White': a variety that forms a tuft measuring 15-20cm in height by 45cm in width. Its small flowers are white with a yellow centre, blooming in abundance. The stems are covered with flowers of almost identical size, generously scattered along their entire length.

x 2 Bacopa 'Gulliver Blue Sensation': this recent variety stands out with its dense, ramified, and slightly trailing growth, measuring 15cm in height by 35cm in width. Its particularly colourful flowers are light blue-mauve, contrasting with a yellow centre. The overall effect is a compact cushion of flowers with a spreading habit.

x 1 Bacopa 'Scopia Double Snowball': this selection forms a remarkable cushion measuring 25cm in height by 30-35cm in width, with dense foliage and double flowers of a beautiful size for a bacopa (3cm), resembling small perfect white roses.

Bacopas are frost-tender perennial plants grown as annuals in our climate. Thanks to their rounded silhouette, they can easily be combined with all balcony plants. In a sufficiently wide hanging basket (40cm), you can plant 3 plants together. In a large pot or container, place them around taller plants such as Pelargonium geraniums, Coleus, or begonias.

These Bacopas require little maintenance. Water regularly, especially during dry periods, and apply a flowering plant fertilizer every two weeks during the growing season to promote abundant flowering. These plants are not very susceptible to diseases and most pests, making them suitable for gardeners of all levels.

Green plants measuring 4 to 8cm in plug trays of 5 small plugs, each measuring 2.8cm in diameter and 4cm in height, individually labeled. Our plants are at least eight weeks old and strong enough to be planted in the ground.

Note: Please be aware that our young plug plants are professional products intended for experienced gardeners. Upon receipt, transplant and store them in a sheltered location (veranda, greenhouse, cold frame, etc.) at a temperature above 14 °C for a few weeks before planting them outdoors once the risk of frost has definitively passed.

Planting and care

Plant your Bacopas in a sunny or possibly semi-shaded location. These plants require a light and humus-bearing soil and appreciate a fertilizer application. They tolerate a rather dry soil quite well. You can plant your bacopas in a pot. In a pot, they need to be watered regularly. Usually grown as annuals, they are actually fragile perennials: by bringing them indoors at the first frost, you can extend their flowering into autumn and winter. Outdoor cultivation is possible by the seaside, with good winter mulching. Plan for light pruning in March. To further branch out the bacopas, you can pinch the tips of the stems to encourage them to divide.
