Description

Mimulus 'Highland Yellow', is a spreading plant that flowers throughout the summer. The delicate pale yellow petals of the flowers bloom from June to September. The combination of this colour with the tender green foliage creates a rather soft ensemble. Choose blue and white flowering plants to accompany your Mimulus, avoiding a too striking contrast.

This perennial plant can face hardiness issues in the north, so it is preferable to cultivate it in a pot like Geraniums, find a small spot for it in your veranda or in a cold greenhouse during winter. Since this variety is a hybrid, there is little chance that it will self-seed abundantly in your garden.

Planting and care

Plant the 'Highland Yellow' Mimulus in a rich humus soil, so it will be less susceptible to summer droughts and you will have better control over the moisture at its base. However, from autumn onwards, stop watering it outdoors until spring. If you choose to plant it in a pot, bring it indoors during winter and continue watering.
