All our indoor saxifrages. Unlike garden saxifrages, these small perennials with ornamental foliage and delicate flowering are well-suited for pot cultivation in a bright indoor setting year-round. The most popular is Saxifraga stolonifera, the stoloniferous saxifrage or strawberry plant, prized for its velvety green leaves with silver veins, long trailing stolons, and delicate star-shaped white flowers. 'Tricolor' is a particularly decorative form, with variegated leaves in green, cream, and pink, making it a highly sought-after ornamental plant for hanging displays. The variety 'Maroon Beauty' captivates with its purplish foliage marked by silver veins. Other species like Saxifraga sarmentosa are also grown indoors for their trailing habit and hardiness.
Indoor saxifrages thrive in bright, indirect light without direct sun, mild temperatures, and a light, well-draining substrate kept slightly moist. Remove spent flowers and overly long stolons to encourage a compact and healthy plant. These perennials are easy to propagate by dividing the stolons. However, be careful not to overwater, as they dislike excess moisture.
