Planted in September, they have just bloomed.. much earlier than another variety that is supposed to be early, strange for a supposedly late variety... Furthermore, the color doesn't match the description at all, it's more of a coral red, not very nuanced... In conclusion, very good bulb quality, good growth, but disappointed by the description that doesn't match what I'm seeing...

Description

The Triumph Tulip 'Malaika' is a spring bulb. It flowers from April to May, right after early tulips. It produces large orange flowers streaked with pink. Its flowers are held on very strong stems that withstand harsh weather.

Developed through cross-breeding between early single tulips and late single tulips, the Malaika tulip reaches a height of 50cm (20in) at maturity. Its green foliage is deciduous. It is an herbaceous tulip that has good hardiness.

All Triumph tulips fit perfectly in large flowerbeds and when combined with other tulips,  as they maximize the flowering duration of the flowerbeds. Triumph tulips can also be planted in borders, flower beds, as well as in pots and containers. This tulip beautifully enhances balconies and terraces. It is also a lovely flower for cutting. It pairs well with 'Blushing Lady' daffodils or the 'Sparkling' narcissus. Triumph tulips are attractive to butterflies.

Planting and care

Place Triumph tulips 'Malaika' in a sunny or partially shaded spot from late September to December for spring flowering. Plant the bulbs in well-drained and deeply loosened soil at a depth of 15cm (6in). Space the bulbs 10cm (4in) apart without touching each other to create a mass effect that will give a more decorative appearance. The care required is very easy. Simply water regularly, especially during dry winters, and cut the flower stems after flowering. Allow the leaves to completely dry before cutting them.
