This 28 cm Senlis spade by Spear & Jackson is equipped with a hardwood handle ending in a T, for a good grip, and a sturdy tempered steel blade. It is a fairly lightweight, very manageable, and reliable garden tool designed to work and turn light and sandy soil. You can also use it to prepare planting holes, create neat borders, and perform various small landscaping tasks.

The spade is an essential garden tool, designed for lifting, turning, loosening and crumbling the soil deeply, in light soils and in small areas. Fertiliser (well-decomposed compost, organic fertiliser, horse manure...) can be incorporated into the soil at the same time it is turned. The spade, with its sharp edges, is also used for digging, cutting roots, or digging up certain vegetable plants (leeks, potatoes, carrots, turnips). This model consists of an ash handle, a wood known for its hardness and lightness, with a metal socket where the blade made of resistant tempered steel is fixed, resistant to shocks, torsion, and corrosion thanks to its finish. The handle is compostable, the metal head is recyclable.

Directions for use The Senlis spade is an essential garden tool, designed for lifting, turning, and digging in small areas, in light or sandy soils. Fertiliser (well decomposed compost, organic fertiliser, horse manure...) can be incorporated into the soil at the same time as it is turned. The sharp spade is also used to make planting holes, clean edges, cut roots, and pull out certain vegetable plants (leeks, potatoes, carrots, turnips). It is suitable for rather light soils. In heavy or stony soils, opt for the fork instead. Clean your tool after use and store it away from bad weather.
