Description

Tillandsia 'Naomi', commonly known as the "air plant", is an indoor plant that will captivate you with its exotic appearance and easy care. Its bright green, curved leaves form an elegant rosette, while its red flowering adds a beautiful splash of colour to your decor. Perfectly suited to contemporary or minimalist interiors, it can be hung or placed on a decorative stand. To keep it happy, place it in a very bright spot but out of direct sunlight and mist regularly with non-calcareous water to provide adequate humidity.

Belonging to the Bromeliaceae family, Tillandsia 'Naomi' is a horticultural hybrid. This epiphytic perennial has moderate growth, reaching a height and spread of 30 to 50 cm at maturity. Its habit is upright, with fairly broad and flexible leaves, curved at their tips, arranged in a rosette. Flowering usually occurs in spring or summer, on mature plants. It takes the form of floral spikes adorned with highly decorative red bracts. The Tillandsia genus includes around 650 species of epiphytic plants native to the forests, mountains, and deserts of neotropical regions, stretching from the southern United States to Argentina. The nickname "air plant" given to Tillandsias comes from their ability to live without being planted in the soil. These epiphytic plants naturally attach themselves to trees, rocks, or other surfaces using their roots, without drawing nutrients from the substrate. They absorb water and nutrients directly through their leaves via specialised structures called trichomes, which allow them to capture moisture from the air and nutrient particles.
Indoors, Tillandsia Naomi will prefer a very light substrate, based on bark, bright light without direct sun, moderate to high ambient humidity, and temperatures between 10 and 30°C. Good air circulation is essential to avoid excess moisture and prevent diseases. Tillandsias are not considered toxic, making them suitable for environments with pets or children.

Tillandsia 'Naomi' finds a place in all bright rooms of the house: hung in a boho-chic living room, placed on a minimalist metal shelf in a contemporary kitchen, or even in a bathroom with a zen atmosphere, thanks to its tolerance for humidity. Its airy habit lends itself to modern compositions, such as a hanging terrarium or a driftwood stand, highlighting its natural elegance. This versatile variety fits just as well in sophisticated interiors as in more relaxed decors.

Maintenance and care

Potting advice, substrates and fertilisers

No pruning is necessary. However, regularly remove dry or damaged leaves to maintain its appearance and promote healthy growth.

Disease and pest advice
