I sowed 4-5 seeds in May, directly in the ground, perhaps a bit late. Only one germinated. However, instead of a 1.10m (4ft) plant, I have a long stem of 2.10-2.20m (7ft), which started to bloom at the end of October. Beautiful colour. Flowering plant. Currently, there are about ten open flowers and many buds, but the frost is coming...

Description

Cosmos Sensation with large flowers are annual plants with a tall habit, 100 to 110 cm (39 to 43in) in height, primarily used for flowering in rustic-style flower beds. Their large 9 cm (4in) diameter flowers are supported by elegant stems emerging from finely cut foliage. Even the slightest breeze causes these flowers to sway in a graceful multicoloured wave. The elegance of this abundant flowering does not go unnoticed. The colours of this Cosmos bipinnatus Sensation mix are numerous: red, pink, rose, white, violet.

The long and abundant flowering period, which extends from June to October, is also a significant advantage of Cosmos bipinnatus Sensation .

Cosmos bipinnate easily pairs with large plants in a rustic style, such as Gauras, Echinaceas, Crocosmias, and grasses.

Very easy to grow, Cosmos is a plant that beginners can sow. Cosmos is tolerant to summer drought.

The aesthetic qualities of its flowers, its finely cut and airy light green foliage, as well as its excellent vase life make it a preferred flower for creating summer bouquets.

An ecological note: Sowing a melliferous plant like Cosmos in your garden will attract pollinating insects and butterflies throughout the summer. At the end of the season, let the last flowers produce their seeds, which are particularly appreciated by birds. This will encourage them to settle in your garden and play an important role in its ecosystem.

Planting and care

Two cultivation options are available to you: 1. Sowing under glass in March-April, followed by transplanting into pots before final placement in your flower beds after the frost. 2. Direct sowing in May (after the last frost), followed by transplanting at a distance of 30 cm (12in) or simply thinning out excess seedlings. It takes between 80 and 90 days from sowing to flowering. During the summer months, removing faded flowers will promote renewal and prolong flowering until autumn.
