The ordering process, the (very short) delivery deadlines being met, pleasant phone contact, delivery in the mailbox, everything was perfect, which is quite rare in these times of apocalypse and false pretenses. What remains is the wonderful work of nature, which cannot be subject to any audit, for which we will never have enough gratitude, a blooming that I eagerly await with joy...

Description

Coleus Wizard Mix has 3 different Latin names: Coleus Wizard Mixed, Solenostemon scutellarioides Wizard Mixed, and Coleus blumei var. verschaffeltii Wizard Mixed.

This variety is a recent horticultural creation, this group of Coleus is native to Southeast Asia. In its habitat, this plant is a perennial and forms small woody shrubs, but in our climate, it should be considered as an indoor plant or grown in the garden as an annual plant.

It exhibits characteristics of plants in the Labiaceae family (which includes Common Nettle): fleshy square stems, toothed and velvety leaves on the underside.

The success of the Coleus Wizard Mixed or 'Painted Nettle' is due to its magnificent foliage, slightly velvety and in multiple colours.

In the garden or indoors, it prefers a sunny or semi-shaded position. Plant it in improved soil, half of which is leaf compost or compost. Take care with watering, but avoid excess water.

Planting and care

You can sow Coleus all year round. Use good quality soil, possibly enriched with well decomposed compost. Lightly press the surface of the sowing tray before sowing your seeds on the surface. Do not cover the seeds with soil. Water with a fine rain. Place your tray in light, at a temperature of 20 to 25°C (68 to 77°F). Using a mini greenhouse will speed up germination.

The seeds will germinate in 10 to 20 days. As soon as the plants have reached a sufficient height to be handled, transplant them into 7cm (3in) pots. Then plant them into their final pot with a diameter of 15cm (6in).

For plants that will be planted outdoors, start gradually acclimatising them to a temperature of 15°C (59°F), 15 days before their final planting. By the end of May or early June, the temperature in the garden will be warm enough to plant your young plants. Choose a sunny location. Add a good handful of compost to each planting hole. Space your plants 25 to 30cm (10 to 12in) apart.

Remove flower spikes as soon as they form to prevent premature exhaustion of the plant.
