Impossible to give an objective opinion since once again the deadlines have not been met, even though the order is supposed to have arrived... A nice website, but out of 2 orders placed, there have been 2 issues with the deadlines and at least one incomplete delivery... I am eagerly awaiting the second one... What a shame.

Description

Campanula carpatica, commonly called Tussock Bellflower, is a small perennial native to the Carpathian Mountains. It forms round, dome-shaped mounds covered in small lavender blue cup-shaped bells from late spring to late summer. Ideal for rock gardens, low retaining walls and borders. Easy to grow in moist, well-drained soil, in the sun or half-shade.

Campanula carpatica, also known as Tussock Bellflower, is a herbaceous perennial native to the Carpathian mountains. It belongs to the Campanulaceae family. It forms rosettes of small, heart-shaped, toothed, light green basal leaves, eventually spreading to a minimum of 30 cm for a height of 25 cm. From June to August-September, numerous branched stems emerge over the foliage, bearing small bell-shaped light blue flowers (2.5- to 4 cm).

Campanula carpatica is perfect for rock gardens, borders, growing along garden paths or over low retaining walls. It can be used for underplanting evergreen or deciduous shrubs or rosebushes, which it will highlight with its lovely blue blooms all summer long in cooler climates. It also combines well with other low-growing plants such as rock cress and alyssum (A.spinosum or A.murale).

Planting and care

Direct sow from April to July in well prepared, loose soil. Germination takes 18-21 days. Transplant the young plants into pots or containers, every 10 cm. Keep the soil moist. The following autumn or the following spring (after having sheltered the pots in a cold frame during the winter), move to their final position, placing one plant every 40-50 cm. Alternatively, sow in a cold frame from March onwards, in half shade. Firm down the soil and water.
