Description

This aster is native to the high valleys of the Himalayas where it grows between 2900 and 4700 metres (9514 and 15420 feet) above sea level. The crown forms rosettes close to the ground composed of small, almost round leaves. In spring, short reddish stems emerge from the crown, each bearing a solitary pinkish-purple flower with slender 'petals' which is quite large compared to the overall size of the plant.

Although this aster can be grown on the edge of a flower bed, it will be best showcased in a paved garden, rockery, or flowering wall, alongside small bellflowers or grasses.
