Planting and care

Hellebores grow in most soils. They thrive in soil that has been deeply worked and mixed with a quantity of organic matter. To fertilize, use bone meal or another organic fertilizer. In acidic soil, preferably add a little lime or 2-year-old wood ash. Water the plants well after planting, then add a layer of mulch 2 to 5 cm (1 to 2in) thick. Regularly remove faded leaves. Be careful not to plant the plants too close together to promote their growth.
