Plant arrived in a sorry state (several branches broken and emptied of its soil due to the packaging during shipping). I contacted customer service who offered me a refund of 30%, but I left it planted throughout the winter and unfortunately it did not recover and died. Really disappointed with this plant.

Description

This is the slowest of the dwarf cypresses. Indeed, the  Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Juniperoides' is an authentic miniature conifer that will not exceed 25 cm (9.8 in) in all directions after 10 years. It forms a round and prostrate cushion, with dark green foliage, composed of tight shells that overlap each other in successive layers. With its very slow growth and rounded shape, it is  a marvel of sculpted architecture, which will grow well in rock gardens, rocky slopes, small gardens, or containers. It thrives in a cool but well-drained, neutral to slightly acidic soil. It appreciates sunny exposures but tolerates partial shade very well.

Also called Hinoki cypress from Japan and capable of reaching 50 m (164 ft) in height in its natural environment. The dwarf variety, 'Juniperoides', has a round and very compact habit, growing slowly to form a rounded ball shape, as wide as it is tall. After ten years of cultivation, it will reach 25 cm (9.8 in) in all directions, it grows at a rate of 60 mm (2.4 in) per year! The foliage, in the shape of incurved round shells, is grouped in clusters at the ends of the branches. Its tiny scale-like leaves are tightly packed against each other. Its light green young shoots contrast beautifully with the older, dark blue-green foliage.

The Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Juniperoides' is an exceptional variety, ideally suited for container cultivation on a terrace or in a carefully designed rock garden. Its remarkably slow growth and its small Japanese-like silhouette will work wonders in a minimalist garden, among large stones. The true graphic qualities of dwarf conifers naturally impose themselves in the design of a contemporary garden, which prefers the aesthetics of shapes, silhouettes, and textures to flowering. This variety can also be associated with shrubs or ground cover plants such as aubrietas, ceraistes, as well as flowering shrubs. The key is to play with volumes and colors.

Tips : Water during periods of high heat as it is sensitive to drought.
