Description

Perennial Andean plants growing on rocky terraces in steep low valleys, above the torrents. Their hardiness is not their strong point, but when planted in a very well-drained, cool and humus-rich soil, in a semi-shaded and sheltered position protected from cold winds, they have survived the last 15 winters in our garden. Their evergreen foliage does not allow for complete mulching of the stumps, but dry dead leaves inserted between the clumps provide them with sufficient protection.

Rosette of persistent, velvety leaves. Long, unbranched flower spikes with spaced white flowers
with a pink stripe.
